The easiest way to grab stuff from the web and put it into Evernote is via the web clipper, an add-on for most browsers.
There are two kinds of clipper: one that works with Evernote software you install on your computer (see below) or one that works without.
The latter is better if you just want to access your material from a browser, or from a computer where you can’t install software.
To install the latter, click on the link to the web-clipper.
Make sure you have the bookmark bar of your browser active. If it’s not, right click on the address bar and select Bookmarks Toolbar from the list)
Drag the green link Drag this to your link bar on the webpage to the bookmark bar below the address bar
Release the mouse and you’ll see a link added called Clip to Evernote
Now try it out by selecting some text on a webpage and then clicking on the new link.
A pop-up window will appear with the text or image saved.
Fill in the other details, such as selecting a notebook, adding tags and text (your own comments etc) to the note. You can always add to or edit this later. The actual link will automatically be remembered by Evernote.
Notice how Evernote will prompt you with tags based on what you start typing in the tag field:
When you’re finished hit Done.
To see your note in your Evernote folder, go to your notebook.
Web clippers with standalone software
If you have the Evernote software installed, then use the Firefox extension.
For Firefox, click on the Firefox link which will take you to the Firefox add-on page for Evernote.
Click on the green Add to Firefox button
You’ll be prompted with a warning. Wait for the Install button to count down and then click on it:
The add-on will install. Once it’s done, click on Restart Firefox:
Once Firefox reloads, you should see the Evernote icon in your toolbar:
Now try it out by selecting some text on a webpage and then clicking on the icon.
A small message will appear at the bottom of your screen letting you know the note has been saved.
